La Morita Enamorada examines one Tijuana community’s mostly handmade water infrastructure, with its street-side pipes that alternately surge, flow, and dribble. These resourcefully improvised drainage devices (along with the meandering crevices they create) are subtly suggestive of motifs found in erotic films, and also reference metaphorical landscape bodies—bodies that breed and multiply in response to the explosively expanding economic conditions of the US/Mexico border region.
